The cupboards have been the biggest part of this undertaking. Aaron has been working on our cupboards since Spring and we are finally getting to the point where we will be able to start painting. Part of the preparations have involved adding beadboard to the cupboard doors and on some of the sides of the cupboards and resizing some of the cupboards to make sure they fit. We plan to paint them white and then glaze them with a brown stain that will give them a distressed look. We are really excited to see what they will look like. Aaron's sister, Myra, did this to her bathroom cupboards and they turned out great.

Preparations for an updated kitchen
Let me update those of you who don't know what we are up to. When we moved into our house, Aaron's parents also moved. In their new house they decided that they didn't like the cupboards so we measured them and they fit, with a few adjustments, into our kitchen. So the plans began to make some changes in our kitchen. Our house was built in 1948 and has the old "stick" cupboards that are the original cupboards. Just to give you an idea of what they are like, when you open some of the cupboards you can see the concrete on the inside. They are very interesting. So we are going to replace the cupboards. We also have carpet in the kitchen so the floor will become tile. We have picked out a backsplash and a new sink as well.
